While working as a Senior Designer at Wax&Hive, I led the rebrand of a popular Mexican restaurant in the St. Petersburg area. This rebrand included a new brand identity—as well as a full execution of that new identity in the brand’s physical locations.

When designing the logo for Grumpy Gringo, a main objective of mine was to develop a style that could translate into a true experience for the restaurant’s customers. Just as Grumpy Gringo marries classic Mexican dishes with modern dining trends, this logo combines authentic Mexican themes with modern elements that creates a brand presence just as appealing as its food.

CREATING AN EXPERIENCE.

Creating the brand identity for Grumpy Gringo was not just a logo, typography and color choices. This rebrand was developed to be built out physically, giving its customers a truly authentic and unique experience.

While working with Grumpy Gringo, I worked alongside Wax&Hive’s Art Director Anthony Freese to create two separate build-out locations. The first location was focused on bringing Grumpy Gringo’s authentic Mexican dishes to life through an experiential restaurant build out, while the second location was largely focused on bringing the restaurant’s Street Fair offerings to life. The two locations where created to be uniquely different—while still holding as a unified brand.
